The short version

Bitcoin is a public record. Every payment stays readable forever, and firms are paid to trace those records back to real people. Monero hides the sender, the receiver and the amount by default, so there is no record to trace. When you spend on a hidden service, the coin is the difference between private and merely hidden-for-now. Everything else on this site is detail underneath that one idea.

Nothing here is sold and nothing about you is stored. It is a guide, written to be read once and understood.
